Christmas window displays

So.......

It's nearly Christmas already, and I've been admiring the amazing displays on offer in stores across London. Here are a few of my favourites from Liberty, Heal's, Habitat, and a few others. Great for colour inspiration, so I've picked out a few palette ideas:

Time to do some more drawing I think!

New website

So......

Just a quick note to say....I have a new website!! This is very exciting to me as I am not very technologically minded so it was a bit of a struggle to switch domains etc, things that I knew previously nothing about!

But it's finally up and running and I'm very proud of it, so please have a look:

New Drawings

So.....

I've been missing being inspired by my fellow creative people at uni. I'm realising now how great it is to be surrounded by people you can constantly bounce ideas off!

So as an attempt to inspire myself I produced some drawings based on an idea I had waiting at Balham station for what seemed like an age for my train home. I noticed the line of the top of the houses across the platform from me and immediately felt the need to draw it.

Here's the results:

I'm pleased but I want to try more with different backgrounds.

David Benjamin Sherry

Just had to share with you an exhibition I went to see recently that inspired me to look up the artist/photographer David Benjamin Sherry. His work immediately struck me as having parallels with my own. The focus on colour, the examination of geographically found patterns and shapes. Some of his work is a little more out there...as you will find out if you google him!

Here are some of my favourites:

The idea is so simple yet so effective. I'm disappointed I didn't think of it first!

Musgrove update

Just a quick update on the Musgrove Hospital commission I blogged about earlier, the final design has been decided!

It is being printed as I write this, I am really looking forward to seeing it 'in situ'.

Of course I will be taking photos when it's finished and posting them here!

Staring at Blanks

So.......

Recently I've had the opportunity to work with the lovely people at Staring at Blanks, which is a very interesting company that facilitates creative people by organising events where, with the use of everyday materials, spaces across London are re-designed and re-invigorated.

The project was to create a design using pieces of coloured vinyl. I got sent pink, turquoise-y green and metallic blue. I knew I wanted to create something on a mirror so the reflected surface would act like the background, and therefore another layer, to the design.

Using some designs from screen prints from my university projects, I created a sprawling jungle of pattern across my mirror.

Here's my scribbled plan for the design:

And here's the results:

I hope to do another design soon as I still have sone vinyl left.
